Demolition Job
Judges 6:25-28
"That same night the LORD said to him, "Take the second bull from your father's herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father's altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. Then build a proper kind of altar to the LORD your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second bull as a burnt offering." So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the LORD told him. But because he was afraid of his family and the men of the town, he did it at night rather than in the daytime. In the morning when the men of the town got up, there was Baal's altar, demolished, with the Asherah pole beside it cut down and the second bull sacrificed on the newly built altar!"
We are THE demolition crew. We need to be tearing down from altars to strongholds, first in our individual lives, then in our families, in our communities and in our nations. Some require fortright and real breaking down as in the idolatry within us, bad ideas out there, arrogant reckonings and others require undermining strongholds with love, service and genuine relationships — real care and concern for the people around us, help in times of need and someone to walk with in times of hurt. In both cases, let the Holy spirit guide us that the path of the Best News that is Jesus Christ will be cleared into the hearts of every person.
Father bless us with the strength and courage to do Your will in our lives. Holy Spirit purify me, like a mighty army, subdue the remaining bulwarks of the Enemy within me. The Empire of Christ has annexed all of me through His victory at the Cross. Amen.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
