Christus: Heri, Hodie, Semper
Micah 4:3–5
"He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken. All the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever."
The last verse today encourages us to a decision to remain in Christ and the preceding verses (vv. 1–4) provide support, citing the future, to why it makes sense now. I Cor 11:26 tells us about the Lord's Supper, "for as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup (at the present), you proclaim the Lord's death (in the past) until he comes (in the future)." Our God is the God of all people, all times and forever, despite differing views, cultures, and persuasions. The One True God is the transcendent objective ultimate reality, He is Truth personified after all (John 14;6); and truth, "by definition, is exclusive" (Zacharias) contradicting claims cannot both be true and God's Word has stood the tests for over centuries and it continues to stand at the heart of many issues today and throughout history. All the rest are, at best, misrepresentations of the truth, and at worst, deception. Lord, there is none like You! May You be glorified in our lives as You deserve. Empower us by Your Spirit. In Jesus's Name. Amen.
