Not Innocent

Luke 22:1–6
"Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present."

Judas was not innocent, no matter how much Andrew Lloyd Webber, certain Gnostics, and forged gospels tell us Judas ought to be elevated to some super apostle to be revered. We are not innocent either. It is our sin that nailed Jesus to the cross and it was there that it was nailed to the cross for our restoration. Jesus prayed to the Father: "While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that Name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled (John 17:12), it isn't only because Judas had to fulfill the Script but that he also had the inclination in his free will to do as he did. "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come (Matt 18:7)," said Jesus, knowing full well that we are given sacred volition to a large extent and we are morally responsible for the actions we take. God, the Grand Weaver, takes this into account as He crafts the tapestry of time. God is the author of life and He is sovereign over history. That is how great He is! All the complexities and counterfactuals are accounted for and sewn into His magnum opus, the story of love and redemption in Jesus Christ. Today, I want to echo the Living Life's prayer: "Give me opportunities to spend more time in Your presence" and add, give us eyes to see from your eternal perspective the wonders of your work and help us to understand how might we be willingly harmonised into your story, in Jesus Name. Amen.
