"Who Said Anything About Safe?"

Micah 1:2–5
"Hear, you peoples, all of you, listen, earth and all who live in it, that the Sovereign Lord may bear witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. Look! The Lord is coming from his dwelling place; he comes down and treads on the heights of the earth. The mountains melt beneath him and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope. All this is because of Jacob’s transgression, because of the sins of the people of Israel. What is Jacob’s transgression? Is it not Samaria? What is Judah’s high place? Is it not Jerusalem?"

Although in the end, God will administer justice as the judge of all the earth (Gen 18:25), we look to His goodness and mercy. In CS Lewis' Narnia the conversation between Mr Beaver and Susan tells us more about Aslan the lion, the representation of God: "Is he-quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion" said Susan..."Safe?" said Mr Beaver ..."Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you." While we longingly trust, that is our faith, that He will right all wrongs of the world and wipe every tear dry (Rev 21:4)— an expression of His great love, a consequence of this, however, is judgment of all sins including ours. We take solace in the words of our Lord: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him (John 3:16–17)."
