What Fellowship Has Light with Darkness?
Numbers 16:23–26
"Then the LORD said to Moses, “Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’” Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. He warned the assembly, “Move back from the tents of these wicked men! Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away because of all their sins.”
The Lord detests rebelliousness against Him and everything associated with it. St Paul warns that among us there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people (Eph 5:3). Just a speck of impurity will contaminate the entire batch and so God forbade the Israelites to associate with the group that caused division in Israel. Let us endeavour to not be of the world, while that was a starting point for us and while we are still in it (John 17:14–19), "for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? (II Cor 6:14)", let us instead partner with God always that we may not make compromises to our faith, be on God's side however unpopular it may be, and God promises us this: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt 11:28–30)."
