The Music of True Forgiveness
Numbers 18:8,14
"Then the LORD said to Aaron, “I myself have put you in charge of the offerings presented to me; all the holy offerings the Israelites give me I give to you and your sons as your portion, your perpetual share… “Everything in Israel that is devoted to the LORD is yours."
God is generous, no doubt, to everyone and He is fair to which He has given much responsibility He gives Himself and so much more. Yes there are costs to discipleship (Luke 14:28) and with it comes the task of leadership of people towards God, but then there are rewards too and part of it is a deeper intimacy with God. We may get bogged down by the burden of sharing the Gospel but let us never get tired of sharing God's grace or in imitating Christ (I Cor 11:1), just because we have been Christians long enough and yet somehow we feel we have not received a commensurate amount of blessings. Let us trust the Holy Spirit to keep from becoming embittered like Salieri the religious one in Amadeus: "I heard the music of true forgiveness filling the theater, conferring on all who sat there, perfect absolution. God was singing through this little man [Mozart] to all the world, unstoppable, making my defeat more bitter with every passing bar." Let's always remember God as the father who pleads with his wayward sons and continues to enjoy fellowship with Him: 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found' (Luke 15:31–32)." What would it take for us to appreciate more of God's grace and being of Christ? We are always with Him and we should rejoice that we have Him, His presence in our lives. Let us cherish the developed relationship we have with God and draw near to Him all the days of our lives.
