Was Blind But Now I See

Luke 18:38–43
"He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to Him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" "Lord, I want to see," he replied. Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God."

Was blind but now I see: "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing (II Cor 4:3)." We were perishing but our eyes were opened. "…Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again (Acts 9:17–18)." Half of receiving the gift of salvation is the comprehension of our utter need for God. We knew we were blind and in need of spiritual healing then we understood the grace God offered. There are many more who do not even see their need of redemption and those who think they never needed it. Let's continue to battle in prayer for these who are blind that the scales may fall off their eyes and that the Holy Spirit may lead them to an understanding of our fallen human nature, repentance, grace and salvation in Christ alone. And for ourselves, may we continually seek God's face and tell Him, "Lord, I want to see!" May the deep mysteries of God be revealed by the Holy Spirit to us that we may be empowered to live according to His wonderful will and purpose.
