Always Pray and Not Give Up

Luke 18:1, 7-8
"Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up... And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"

The most basic of Christian disciplines is communicating with God through prayer. We claim ours is not a religion but a relationship and a relationship is built on open communication. Let us approach God in expectation that He answers our calls in myriad ways a lot of which we have already experienced. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring those instances to mind, to "remember now your Creator" (Ecc 12:1). This will help us to "rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus" for us (I Thes 5:16-18). God promises to give us an answer, we have to listen and listen close, study and learn how He relates to us His wise counsel. Petition God for our most pressing situations, our deepest longings, for justice, for mercy, for understanding, and faith that He is the ultimate judge and He will make all things right eventually. Lord Jesus, we thank You for your sacrifice on the cross. You tore the veil that separates Your creation from God. We praise and honour You, we want to build on our restored relationship each day. Empower us through Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
