Sovereignty of God, Responsibility of Man

Habakkuk 1:12-13 NKJV
"Are You not from everlasting,
O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment; O Rock, You have marked them for correction. You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he?"

As God used Israel to bring judgement to the Canaanite peoples, He also used the Chaldeans to execute judgement to even His chosen people who went astray.

We read in history about the downfall of Babylon (as prophesied in the book of Daniel). In hindsight, we can see how utterly sovereign God is over human affairs while holding people responsible for the choices they make.

Matthew 18:7 NKJV
"Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!"

Father, we may not know what the future holds, but we sure are glad and thankful, we know the One, Who holds the future. Holy Spirit continue to empower us to freely and delightfully obey God's commands. Lord Jesus, thank You for continuously interceding for us. Amen.
