Though the Fig Tree Does Not Bud

Habakkuk 3:16-19

"I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights."

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." ― Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Psalm 37:1-6
"Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun."

Thank you Father that I can rejoice and trust in You. Thank you that despite circumstances, my vision for life, my innermost needs and deepest desires can be met according to Your grace. Thank you for giving us hope for the future through Jesus Christ's blood, that justice shall indeed prevail and the truth shall set us free even in the here and now. We no longer need to be content with despair and meaninglessness in this life, but that we can earnestly wait on You and seek after You and that ultimately, You will wipe every tear from our eyes, no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things will eventually pass away.
