Unstoppable

II Chronicles 13:13–20
"Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to the rear, so that while he was in front of Judah the ambush was behind them. Judah turned and saw that they were being attacked at both front and rear. Then they cried out to the LORD. The priests blew their trumpets and the men of Judah raised the battle cry. At the sound of their battle cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. The Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands. Abijah and his men inflicted heavy losses on them, so that there were five hundred thousand casualties among Israel's able men. The Israelites were subdued on that occasion, and the people of Judah were victorious because they relied on the LORD, the God of their ancestors. Abijah pursued Jeroboam and took from him the towns of Bethel, Jeshanah and Ephron, with their surrounding villages. Jeroboam did not regain power during the time of Abijah. And the LORD struck him down and he died."

"With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken Him? Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than He blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff (Isa 40:18, 21-24)." King Jeroboam should've known, but he squandered the gift of power God gave him, and at this point the one more chance God provided through King Abijah of Judah, he wasted it and he was unable to recover from this defeat until God's judgment (v. 20). Friends, there is no power, no force, no purpose, no being that is able to stand up to the wisdom, the power or the glory of our God. All things revolve around Him (Rom 11:36). So, no matter your circumstances and the times of uncertainty and even hopes dashed with disappointments, we cling to God, repent, thank, and praise Him. English writer GK Chesterton once said "when belief in God becomes difficult, the tendency is to turn away from Him; but in heaven's name to what?” So, when the LORD Jesus asked the Twelve, “Do you want to leave too?” Simon Peter replied, “LORD, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God (John 6:67–69).” We can be unstoppable too, and that is to align ourselves with the will and to humble ourselves under the sovereignty of God in whom is life eternal and life to the fullest (John 10:10).
