Dwelt in Our Dimension

II Chronicles 6:18–21
“But will God indeed dwell with humans upon the earth? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built. Yet regard the prayer and plea of Your servant, O LORD my God, so that You may hear the cry and the prayer that Your servant is praying before You. May Your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place of which You said You would put Your Name there, so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place. Hear the plea of Your servant and Your people Israel when they pray toward this place. May You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place. May You hear and forgive.”

God is faithfulness and we’d do well to trust in Him. King Solomon, the richest man of earth of his time recognises that God is huge that even the vast expanse of space cannot contain Him, how much more a physical temple (v. 18)? God is ultimately outside of our reality but He came near, from eternity He entered into time and dwelt in our dimension. The LORD listens and hears our prayers, much so that when we encountered His Son, we are given a renewed reason and hope for life, fulfilment of what humanity had always longed for, forgiveness and rescue from futility and meaninglessness of a brief existence, that towards the end, we can go in peace wrapped in His faithful promise: “Sovereign LORD, as You have promised, You now dismiss Your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to Your people Israel (Luke 2:29–32).”
