Desire Wisdom
II Chronicles 9:22–27
“King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth. All the kings of the earth sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart. Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift—articles of silver and gold, and robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules. Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horses, which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem. He ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.”
Desire, pursue, and love godly wisdom, brothers and sisters. The Bible attests to a timeless reminder from God, to King Solomon, to us, “My child, do not forget My teaching, but keep My commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and people. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil (Prov 3:1–7).” This, the king experienced for himself and so he was showered in God’s blessings, material, acknowledgment, relationships, and many more, indeed that which God offers as we seek His kingdom and righteousness (Matt 6:33). O the glorious riches that await us in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19), the One Greater than Solomon (Matt 12:42, Luke 11:31), to Him be glory forever!
