Romans 1:28
"Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done."
A Seventh-Day Adventist pastor from the US, Ryan Bell, who tried atheism for a year, and no surprise, he has given up Christianity (and encourages other Christians to do what he did "A Year Without God") for several years now. The Greatest Commandment is to love God (Matt 22:36–40), and to do just that is to know and obey Him (I John 5:3). The knowledge of God is kept in an intimate relationship with Him. I (and another guy) told Ryan Bell on twitter, "relationships fall apart when left unattended" (no reply by the way, when I said this and I asked him for a link to his response). The former pastor just "didn't think it worthwhile to retain" his relationship with God. Now, I'm not saying that those who become atheists automatically will have a depraved mind and embrace immorality, (though it is possible), it isn't belief in God that makes us moral after all, (in fact atheists can exude a highly moralist position in their chosen causes), but God Himself is the foundation of objective moral values, so if one denies God's reality, along with it comes any rational basis for universally binding "oughts". Let us delight in God and His Word in our everyday lives, be like trees planted in streams of Living Water, our leaves will not wither, we will yield much fruit in season, and everything we do will prosper (Psa 1:2–3).
