The Battle is God’s

I Chronicles 5:16–22
“The Gadites lived in Gilead, in Bashan and its outlying villages, and on all the pasturelands of Sharon as far as they extended. All these were entered in the genealogical records during the reigns of Jotham king of Judah and Jeroboam king of Israel. The Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men ready for military service—able-bodied men who could handle shield and sword, who could use a bow, and who were trained for battle. They waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish and Nodab. They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to Him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in Him. They seized the livestock of the Hagrites—fifty thousand camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep and two thousand donkeys. They also took one hundred thousand people captive, and many others fell slain, because the battle was God’s. And they occupied the land until the exile.”

“They were helped in fighting and God delivered” their enemies “into their hands, because they cried out to Him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in Him (v. 20)” Indeed the battle is the LORD’s (v. 22), there is a spiritual dimension in everything, and in our time and place today, battles are mostly spiritual. Let us put our trust in God alone, cry out to Him in every situation, humble ourselves and let the Holy Spirit in. The LORD said, “and I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him (Luke 11:9–13)!” Many times we just don’t ask God, we think we can just do it, why bother the King of the Universe? But God desires for us to experience His fatherly love, He gives us what we need, and in many cases what we desire. Let us align ourselves with His good, pleasing, and perfect will, and no longer conform to the pattern of this world (Rom 12:2). God desires for us to walk with Him through this life given by Him and when we face challenges and battles remember, it is most often our Heavenly Father giving us the keys to unlock our Christlike potential and grow into maturity in His image, and so, as with Zerubbabel, God tells us, “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts (Zech 4:6).” LORD, Holy Father, we cry out to You today. We trust not even ourselves but You alone for success, we move by Your Holy Spirit, guide us, let us be in tune with Your beat, for the battle is Yours. In Jesus’ glorious name. Amen.
