The Seeds of Justice
Isaiah 62:10-63:6
“Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. The LORD has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your Savior comes! See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.’” They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called Sought After, the City No Longer Deserted. Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with His garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of His strength? “It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.” Why are your garments red, like those of one treading the winepress? “I have trodden the winepress alone; from the nations no one was with He. I trampled them in My anger and trod them down in My wrath; their blood spattered My garments, and I stained all My clothing. It was for Me the day of vengeance; the year for Me to redeem had come. I looked, but there was no one to help, I was appalled that no one gave support; so My own arm achieved salvation for me, and My own wrath sustained Me. I trampled the nations in My anger; in My wrath I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground.”
Jesus is on His way and He will be victorious. God will ultimately judge evil and wrongdoing and will vanquish it from the earth for all time, it started with redemption 2000 years ago when Christ lived, was crucified, died, buried, and rose again on the third day (I Cor 15:3–8). The prophet Isaiah tells us about the Messiah looking for the faithful and then found none, and in His righteous rage, tramples the earth (vv. 5-6). Jesus will bring justice but let us ensure we are on the side of His truth, the LORD encourages persistence and perseverance in living out the truth we proclaim, and pray to Him earnestly for His will be done on earth as it is in heaven: “Will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help? I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth (Luke 18:7-8)?” He will arrive, “robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of His strength” (v. 1) let us already begin to welcome Him by living lives well-lived according to His desires, and love Him through our praises, prayers, and thanksgiving.
