Help Is On Its Way

Isaiah 51:1–8
“Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was only one man, and I blessed him and made him many. The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; He will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing. “Listen to Me, My people; hear Me, My nation: Instruction will go out from Me; My justice will become a light to the nations. My righteousness draws near speedily, My salvation is on the way, and My arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to Me and wait in hope for My arm. Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But My salvation will last forever, My righteousness will never fail. “Hear Me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken My instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But My righteousness will last forever, My salvation through all generations.”

God tells us today that His salvation, His rescue is on its way (v. 5) may this bring us comfort as we go about and face our daily challenges. We gain solace from the reality that God will always win in the end, He will prevail. The Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ our LORD is already victorious and so it will not be difficult to have peace we only need ask it of Him today and the way is already laid, the truth revealed, and life bursting in full bloom into our daily experience. Jesus came that we may have life and have it so abundantly (John 10:10), and we defend it from those who try to rob us by pursuing righteousness and seeking the LORD (v. 1), we seek justice in Him, who is truth. The Apostle Peter reminds us, “the LORD is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (II Pet 3:9).” That we cry with the psalmists “how long LORD?”, but God assures us in His word: "In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay”, that we “need to persevere, so that after you have done God’s will, you will receive what He has promised and that you shall live by faith as in the righteous one (Heb 10:36–38).” Sisters, brothers, the LORD is near (Phi 4:5), and so be of good cheer and we just continue to persevere (rhyming not intended hehe), He is here for us always!! We can trust His words and salvation to be everlasting (vv. 6, 8, Matt 24:35), and His help to come speedily when we ask according to His will (v. 4, I John 5:14). The LORD Jesus said, “will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to defer their help? I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth (Luke 18:7–8)?”
