Cornerstone

I Corinthians 3:18–20
“Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”; and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

Brothers and sisters let us hold fast to the Gospel and seek God’s wisdom through the Holy Spirit, pray for God’s eternal perspective and truth about anything at all. We preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles (I Cor 1:23). Now to us who believe, St. Peter writes, “this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and, "A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for (I Pet 2:7–8).” I like today’s Living Life prayer: “Father, thank You that You are wiser than anyone in this world. May I always seek wisdom and understanding from You so that I may be a blessing to You and to others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.” Amen indeed, and it ties in with St. Jude’s words of praise parallels St. Paul’s ending to the Book of Romans (Rom 16:27): Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen (Jude 1:24–25)” To the only wise God be glory forever!
